چکیده

The membrane contactor system is one of the most important technologies to trap CO2 from natural gas. To apply this technology, hollow fibre membranes with a superhydrophobic surface must be used, where were prepared kaolin clay through phase inversion/sintering technique and modified by three types fluoroalkylsilane (FAS) molecules (C6, C8, C10) at different immersion times (6, 24, 48,72 h) capture gas via contacting gas-liquid system. was chosen due its abundant availability an affordable price as well high amount hydroxyl (OH) group in which easily reacts FAS during grafting process. Superhydrophobicity distinguished Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), liquid entry pressure water (LEPw) measurement, contact angle (CA). lowest pore size grafted obtained for C8 about 1.32 ?m; it considered perfect target resistance. tested carbon dioxide (CO2) With increasing time immersion, hydrophobicity phenomena rose gradually until superhydrophobicity property obtained. Forty-eight hours proven sufficient obtain desired avoid wetting pores membranes. Besides, type separating based on LEPw angle. reduction pH observed after testing performance using separate absorbent value decreased 6.6 4.3 within 1 h, concludes success into removing

Polyvinylidene Fluoride Hollow Fiber Membrane Contactor Incorporating Surface Modifying Macromolecule for Carbon Dioxide Stripping from Water

Porous surface modified polyvinylidene ï‌‚uoride (PVDF) hollow fiber membranes are fabricated through a dry-wet phased inversion process. Surface modifying macromolecules (SMM) (1 wt. %) are used as additives in the spinning dope. The performance of the surface modified membrane in contactor application for CO2 stripping from water is assessed through the fabricated gas–liquid membrane contacto...

Fabrication and Characterization of Polyetherimide Hollow Fiber Membrane Contactor for Carbon Dioxide Stripping from Monoethanolamine Solution

In this research, process asymmetric polyetherimide hollow fiber membranes using ethanol (0, 2 and 4 wt%) as non-solvent additive in the polymer dope via phase inversion method were fabricated. Aqueous solution of 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidine (NMP) (90%) was applied as a bore fluid to avoid inner skin layer formation and water was used as the external coagulant. The morphology of fabricated membranes...

Surface modification of poly(vinylidene fluoride) hollow fibre membranes for biogas purification in a gas–liquid membrane contactor system

The wetting of hollow fibre membranes decreases the performance of the liquid-gas membrane contactor for CO2 capture in biogas upgrading. To solve this problem, in this work, a poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) hollow fibre membrane for a liquid-gas membrane contactor was coated with a superhydrophobic layer composed of a combination of hydrophobic SiO2 nanoparticles and polydimethylsiloxane (PD...

Evaluating the Sintering Temperature Control Towards the Adsorptivity of Ammonia onto the Natural Zeolite Based Hollow Fibre Ceramic Membrane

The disproportionate quantity of ammonia presence in water has led to serious drinkable water scarcity worldwide. The abundant source of mineral and superior cations selectivity has made natural zeolite as a good adsorbent for the ammonia removal. This work aims to fabricate natural zeolite based hollow fibre ceramic membrane (HFCM) via extrusion based phase inversion and sintering techniques f...
